Official Job Description: The Vice Chair for Political Organizing (VCPO) shall be responsible for the precinct organization and shall perform other duties as directed by the Chair. (Article VII, Section 2a of Bylaws).
Additional Responsibilities: The VCPO shall develop a 2010 caucus plan to be presented to the Executive Board by the August 2009 meeting. This plan shall layout the costs, number of caucus locations needs, general dates, convenors and other pertinent info as it relates to the precinct and LD caucuses. The VCPO shall work with Communications Chair to advertise the 2010 caucuses and disseminate information via the district newsletter and listserv. The VCPO will work with the Technology Chair to provide documents, materials and resources to the website for PCOs, NOCs and interested caucus attendees.
The VCPO shall also chair the Political Committee and is ultimately responsible for the execution of its objectives and goals. The VCPO shall pull or delegate to NOCs walk lists when requested and will maintain a current PCO list. The VCPO shall work with Data Manager to ensure that the PCO List the Data Manager maintains is current for the purposes of credentialing and mailing labels for the district newsletter.
The VCPO shall train PCOs once in 2009 and at least once in 2010 on community organizing, voter registration and GOTV and shall provide assistance and guidance to the NOCs in the execution of their goals and objectives.
The VCPO is in charge of literature distribution and is also responsible for sign off on the sample ballot before it is printed and distributed.
A prepared brief report of the officer’s previous month’s worth of activities and status updates on ‘to-do’s is due two days prior to the Executive Board meeting.
Who May Run: Voting members in good standing (paid membership dues at any time from the reorg meeting to no more than one year prior OR a current PCO).
Who May Vote on This Position: Any voting member in good standing may vote for this position.
