Official Job Description: The Membership Chair shall be responsible for membership renewals, welcoming new members, meeting diversity goals as prescribed by the Executive Board and other duties as assigned by the Chair (Article VII, Section 2k of Bylaws).
Additional Responsibilities: The Membership Chair shall, with input from the KCYD Delegate, develop a diversity and outreach plan for the district for new membership, including stated diversity goals and quantified membership goals. Since many NOCs and PCOs will have access to potential new members, the Membership Chair will work with the Vice Chair of Political Organizing and NOC Coordinators to deliver on diversity goals.
The Membership Chair shall be responsible for welcoming new members to the district either in person, via email or by phone and shall help the new members navigate our processes, our resources and our organizational structure. The Membership Chair is ultimately responsible for ensuring a new member feels welcomed to the district.
The Membership Chair shall be responsible for the accuracy of the Membership list including spouses/partners/SOs in a household who may be eligible for voting (based on a $36 household donation). The Membership Chair shall be a part of the Communications Data & Technology Committee and will work with the Data Manager to ensure that all the data relating to membership is accurate.
The Membership Chair will also be responsible for membership renewals. When a membership expires, the Membership Chair will contact via phone, email, in person or letter the expiring member and encourage renewal.
A prepared brief report of the officers’ previous month’s worth of activities and status updates on ‘to-do’s is due two days prior to the Executive Board meeting.
Who May Run: Voting members in good standing (paid membership dues at any time from the reorg meeting to no more than one year prior OR a current PCO).
Who May Vote on This Position: Any voting member in good standing may vote for this position.
