- I have been an active Democrat since 1980. I have doorbelled my current precinct twice per year since 1986. I have held many positions at the LD level including chair, political chair, and State Committeeman. In the 1990s I was a public schools advocate/activist and served as a PTA chair and site council chair in several public schools. I teach community development for health (in the UW School of Public Health) and rural health (in the UW School of Medicine). I have four kids, all grown, who do all manner of interesting and useful things on both coasts. My wife (Anne Fitzpatrick) is principal at Kimball Elementary School, a public school on the NE slopes of Beacon Hill. If you are nice, I might take you sailing on my boat that I keep near the UW.
