Our Membership Meetings are normally held on the 2nd Thursday of Each Month. This month, however, it is the third Thursday.

Washington State's 36th District Democrats represent the northwest neighborhoods of Seattle. The 36th District is represented in the State Senate by Senator Jeanne Kohl-Welles and in the State House by Representatives Helen Sommers and Mary Lou Dickerson. Our organizational leaders are Peter House (Chair), Janis Traven (Vice Chair) and Dana Laurent (Vice Chair for Political Organizing.

Join us to help take our country back! We meet on the second Thursday of the month at the Calvary Lutheran Church in Ballard, 7002 23rd Ave NW. . Meetings start promptly at 7:00 p.m.

and Updated Information for the General Election

NEXT INTERVIEWS TAKE PLACE ON TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 9th at the Northwest Senior Center.

If no endorsement was made for the primary, we may revisit that race for endorsement.

The following ballot measures will be considered for the General Election:

BALLOT MEASURE I-985 (Eyman's Decongestant initiative)
We have not heard from proponents or opponents on this measure

BALLOT MEASURE I-1000 (Death With Dignity)
Our General Membership heard from proponents on 8/14
Margaret Dore will meet with the Eboard and present the opposing view on 1000 on 9/9 at 7 PM

BALLOT MEASURE I-1029 (Training for home healthcare workers)
We will hear the PRO side on 9/9 at 6:30

KING COUNTY CHARTER AMENDMENT #1 (Elected Auditor)
We have previously recommended a "NO" position on I-25

KING COUNTY CHARTER AMENDMENT #2 (Anti-Discrimination)
Elevating to Charter status the existing prohibition in the King County Code against discrimination based on disability, sexual orientation, or gender identity or expression in county employment and contracting.

KING COUNTY CHARTER AMENDMENT #3 (Regional Committees)
Reducing the number of County Councilmembers on the Council’s three regional committees, establishing a vice-chair position to be filled by a non-Council member, authorizing the committees to initiate legislation, and authorizing the Regional Policy Committee to adopt its own work program without the need for Council approval

KING COUNTY CHARTER AMENDMENT #4 (Qualifications for Elected Officials)
Permitting the Council to establish additional qualifications for separately-elected officials who head charter-based executive branch departments, as is currently permitted for the office of Sheriff

KING COUNTY CHARTER AMENDMENT #5 (Economic Forecasting)
An independent agency to develop economic forecasts for use by King County government would be created

KING COUNTY CHARTER AMENDMENT #6 (Budget Timeline)
Providing the Council with an additional 20 days to review the Executive's proposed County budget, for a total of 65 days for review

KING COUNTY CHARTER AMENDMENT #7 (Citizen Initiative)
Streamline the process by which citizens may amend the charter through initiative by eliminating the requirement to hold two separate public votes on such measures, and increase the signature threshold to 20 percent.

KING COUNTY CHARTER AMENDMENT #8 (Non-partisan Offices for King County)
We have previously taken a NO position on I-26.
